Social Media Club Phoenix continues to be well attended
Another month another SRO crowd at the Social Media Club Phoenix meeting. We spent a great deal of time this month on the Social Media Press release.
Some of the key points included:
- What's the deliver mechanism? Email is the obvious choice, but there's a few new media wire services to consider as well (Press Wire etc.) (from Francine Hardaway
)
- It's much more focused on exposing other stories that are available online. The "old media" approach focused on demonstrating that the Press Release was the only story. (from Francine Hardaway
)
- The credibility of the idea is more important than the credibility of the source, because the web will establish the veracity of the facts. (from Erica Lucci
and the group)
- One of the attendees (I didn't get her name, sorry) consumes PR for a radio station, and she has yet to get any of these "Social Media Press Releases
", which put some context for our discussion.
Robert Scoble
is going to speak (keynote?) at a blogging / social media conference on March 1st 2007 at Grand Canyon University
Probably the most influential and visible blogger in the commercial space is speaking in Phoenix on March 1st. If you're in Phoenix and you're being affected by social media (and who isn't) you should be there. I'll post more about this as I learn it, but it's probably worth watching Francine's site for the announcement.
(I've written this during the meeting so I'll updated it as the meeting concludes.)
